About Rob

Robert R. Updegrove, MA, NCC, LPC

Rob is a Licensed Professional Counselor servicing the Lehigh Valley. He specializes in child and adolescent counseling, anger management, oppositional behaviors, trauma/ abuse victims, play therapy/sand tray, delinquent behavior and substance abuse. Rob has over 15 years experience working with adolescent sex offenders and sexually reactive/aggressive children in a residential setting. His work experiences as a program therapist include completing sexual behavior assessments, risk assessments and individual and group therapy. He has further experience working with this population on an outpatient basis as well. Rob has conducted trainings on sexually reactive children for agency personnel, the 2005 MANY Conference and local teachers at the 2007 Northampton County SAP Seminar. Rob was a counselor for a student assistance program for elementary students in Northampton School District. Rob’s primary therapeutic approach is cognitive- behavioral, but he also incorporates non- directive/ directive play therapy, expressive/art therapy and Gestalt therapy. He has a goal directed, strength based perspective. Rob is a National Certified Counselor and a Certified Juvenile Sex Offender Treatment Specialist.
